Movement is Life
With the advent and evolution of modern technology, I also see a growing need for the remembering and re-integration of key aspects of what it means to be human — movement, in particular.
Humans are meant to move. Having gyms and other avenues for movement is great outside of work is great, but why do things need to be so disintegrated? And, why does movement need to be a means of stress reduction? Or, a means of doing something? Or, of changing ourselves? Why can we not move simply because we want to move? Because it is a natural part of being human? Why are work environments so disintegrated and separated from this innate quality of being human? What would happen if we envisioned work environments where people were free to move? And, stretch? And, be? Is it possible that happiness, productivity, and work quality might go up? It is my belief that there is a dire need to re-integrate movement into our lives. Not for any other reason than it is a part of us all.
